Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made a tour to the Brompton Portfolio’s toilet paper manufacturing factory located at the Nsawam Prisons in the Eastern Region which was established under the One District One Factory Initiative. It is the 5th toilet roll manufacturing factory established under the 1D1F initiative.
Ghana now has a total of 14 toilet roll manufacturing factories with sufficient capacity to satisfy local demand. However, Ghana spends $70 million a year to import toilet rolls.
There, he announced that from next year all government institutions must procure all their toilet roll from local manufacturers. This he said is the result of the success of the One District One Factory initiative, which has led to the setting up of several factories which have boosted local capacity and can meet local demand of Toilet Rolls, Tissues, Paper Towels and Packaging Products.
The Vice President noted that the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is to move away from the export of the primary commodities to the manufacturing of commodities, and will continue to support local manufacturing companies in the context of One District One Factory initiative which will create jobs and save foreign exchange.
