The Kasoa Divisional Police command has foiled a robbery attack at the Kasoa branch of the GCB bank.
Citi News sources said 36-year-old Kojo Appiagah who was wielding a machete visited the Walantu branch of the GCB bank demanding that monies be given to him.
Citi News understands that the suspected armed robber attacked one Sargent Justice Nkrumah, the police officer on duty in an attempt to take monies from tellers at the bank.
He also slashed one Sargent Charles Yeboah causing a deep cut on his left hand.
He was later overpowered by the Police and handed over to the Divisional Police Command.
Items retrieved from him included a black bag, and a yellow and white piece of cloth containing a talisman.
Speaking to Citi News, Azumah Apiagah a family member to Kojo Appiagah said he is mentally unstable the reason for his action.
“I am sure he is mentally unstable because at certain times, in the house, you see him holding a microphone and pretending to be preaching the word of God,” Azumah Appiagah told Citi News.
According to her, she heard on some radio stations that his brother has been arrested adding that she was shocked at the turn of event.
“I am surprised because I don’t know my brother to be an armed robber,” Azumah Appiagah said.
The Kasoa Divisional Police Command have refused to comment on the matter for now.
