Video: Abronye further shreds Jospong into pieces; challenges him to debate

The debate about whether or not government’s takeover of Great Consolidated Diamonds Ghana Limited (GCDGL) is legal is far from over.

The Jospong Group of Companies, owners of the diamond mine at Akwatia in the Eastern region has accused the government of not following due process

They argue that once the issue of the legality of the abrogation is before a court, it is wrong for the government to take over the company.

But a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, said Jospong has not been fair to the state.

He explained that Jospong after the takeover failed to fulfil its mandate of paying $17 million to the DIC as well as rehabilitating and refurbishing facilities at the mines to enhance production.

“You made $15 million dollars profit from Akwatia mine but you failed to pay the $17 million owed the state. What else do you want the government to do,” he quizzed.

Abronye DC who is also the NPP Bono regional chairman maintained that the Jospong case in court was “dead on arrival”.

He challenged the Executive Chairman of the Group, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, to a debate on the Akwatia mine and “I will bring further and better particulars to expose him”.
