Don’t toy with peace and stability of Ghana with new register – NDC to EC

National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has warned the Electoral Commission (EC) not to toy with the peace and stability of the country months to the general election.

He said the introduction of a new Voters Register months to the general election can plunge the country into chaos.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo made the statements at the party’s press conference in Accra on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

He further said the current political climate does not support the EC’s quest to procure a new biometric system.

As part of its activities for the year 2020, the Commission wants to compile a new register for the general election.

But, the NDC has kicked against the move by the Commission to introduce a new register.

According to the party, there is no need for a new register and it would be better for the Commission to upgrade the old register.
