EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT EVALUATION POLICY

The Department of Children under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection on 22nd January, 2020 held an initial meeting of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Policy in Accra to commence the process for the evaluation of the ECCD Policy.

The meeting was to establish a working relationship between the consulting team and key ECCD partners. The Evaluation meeting was also to make recommendations for the review of the policy and provide a platform for the evaluation team to have an early interaction with key ECCD stakeholders and gather information on the implementation of the policy, determine the priorities for the ECCD, going forward and to get stakeholders’ inputs concerning the proposed methodology for the evaluation.

Partners were made to understand what the evaluation process would entail and consultants were introduced to the partners involved and their area of work and a general idea of ECCD implementation in Ghana.

The Early Childhood Care and Development Evaluation aims to achieve the following:
– Increase awareness on issues with regards to children and the roles of duty bearers.
– Increase awareness on the importance of the early years and investment in the ECCD
– Improve capacity of a wide range of stakeholders including health professionals, teachers, social workers, community leaders, policy makers amongst others.

Members of ECCD made brief presentations on the implementation of the ECCD.
